Travel Photographer of the Year

Competition summary:

The 2018 international Travel Photographer of the Year awards (TPOTY) are now open for entry. Amateur and professional photographers from across the globe and of all ages have until October 1st to submit their images. This prestigious award offers massive exposure for your work - the 2018 TPOTY exhibitions have been visited by an estimated 1.8 million people.

There are some fantastic prizes to be won, including cash bursaries, the latest professional cameras and lenses from Fujifilm, Norwegian voyages with Hurtigruten, jackets from Páramo, personalised leather portfolio books or iFolios from Plastic Sandwich, Photo Iconic photo tuition, Genesis Imaging exhibition prints and membership of the Royal Photographic Society.

This year's portfolio categories are 'Travel' (eight images), 'Faces, People, Cultures' (four images) and 'Natural World' (four images), and there are three single image One Shot categories, 'Beauty of Light', 'Hot, Cold' and 'Tranquility'. The theme for the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award is 'My Adventures', while the New Talent theme is 'Festivals & Events'. Finally, for pictures taken on a smartphone or tablet, there is 'itravelled'.

The overall winner of the awards - the Travel Photographer of the Year 2018 - will be the photographer judged to have submitted the best eight images, either as an entry to the eight-image 'Travel' portfolio or as two portfolios in one or both of the four-image categories.

Category details:

The TPOTY 2018 awards have the following categories:
- Two Portfolio categories (4 images per portfolio). 'Faces, People, Cultures' and 'Natural World'.
- A special Travel Portfolio category (8 images per portfolio).
- Three One Shot categories. 'Beauty of Light', 'Hot, Cold' and 'Tranquility'.
- Smart Shot category (Camera phone).
- New Talent category. 'Festivals & Events'.
- Young Travel Photographer of the Year award, for photographers aged 18 and under (with two different age groups)
- Award for the overall winner - the Travel Photographer of the Year 2018

Entry requirements:

Photographers from all countries and of any age may enter this contest.

Entry fee:

The entry fees are as follows:
£8 for Smart Shot
£10 for One Shot
£20 for the four-image portfolio categories
£20 for New Talent
£30 for the eight-image 'Travel' portfolio
Entry to Young Travel Photographer of the Year is free of charge.
