British Wildlife Photography Awards 2019

Competition summary:

You can have the chance to win a prestigious British Wildlife Photography award, with a cash prize of £5,000 and reach millions through national exposure. Help raise awareness about British wildlife and celebrate our natural heritage. Winners and commended entrants will have their work showcased in a touring exhibition and stunning book, and will be invited to an exclusive awards ceremony in London. The awards recognise the talents of photographers practising in Britain whilst also highlighting the great wealth and diversity of British natural history. A celebration of British wildlife as well as a showcase for photographers and videographers, both amateur and professional.

Category details:

There are fifteen separate categories including animal behaviour, urban wildlife, habitat, wild woods, animal portraits, marine life, the hidden secret world that lies in the undergrowth and a special award for wildlife in HD Video. Also two junior categories - to encourage young people to connect with nature through photography.

Entry requirements:

This competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers of any nationality. Adults (19 years and over) may enter a maximum of 40 images/video sequences across all categories. There is no limit per category. The young competition is open to those 18 years and under. Photographers from any country are welcome to enter but photographs must have been taken in the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

Enter this competition from £10. To enter the Young people’s award is free.

Prize details:

The winning pictures and best entries will be included in a touring exhibition across the UK and a stunning coffee table book. The title of British Wildlife Photographer is given to the photographer whose single image is judged to be the most striking and memorable of all the entries. The photographer of the overall winning image is awarded a first prize of £5,000.

Each category winner (except British Seasons, Habitat and Behaviour) will receive a Canon EOS M50 and 15-45mm lens.

The Behaviour category winner will receive a £1,000 voucher from category sponsor Shetland Nature - to be used against any Shetland Nature tour, subject to availability.

The Habitat category will receive a place on a trip worth from category sponsor Wildlife World Wide.

The prize in the Wildlife in HD Video category is a Canon XA11 Full HD Camcorder.

Young British Wildlife Photographer (Up to 11): £300
Young British Wildlife Photographer (12–18): £500
