Each spring, Columbia University awards Pulitzer Prizes in 14 journalism categories, including Breaking News Photography and Feature Photography. The winners are chosen by the Pulitzer Prize Board, which seeks to recognize journalistic excellence in eligible news organizations.
Breaking News Photography – For a distinguished example of breaking news photography in black and white or colour, which may consist of a photograph or photographs.
Feature Photography – For a distinguished example of feature photography in black and white or color, which may consist of a photograph or photographs.

For the Journalism competition, entrants may be of any nationality but work must have appeared in a U.S. newspaper published at least once a week, on a newspaper’s website or on an online news organization’s website.
